Raul capped the weekend off celebrating observing the 400th anniversary of Henry Hudson's voyage up the Muhheakantuck—now known as the Hudson River—along with folk icon/activist/Beaconite Pete Seeger, the sloops Woodie Guthrie and Clearwater, other majestic riverworthy vessels and a throng of folks from all over who have found they "could be happy / just spending their days / on the river that flows both ways."

Oh yeah, and face painting. And folk songs!

It's well established Raul has a need for speed. With summer upon us the Jewel was in need of an upgrade, which we found via special order thanks to the bros at Beacon Cycles.

It's a DK Intervol—main idea #1: 18in top tube; main idea #2: "red metallic"—and since it's bossy little starter kit of a BMX bike, it makes sense that tonight we're settling in to a screening of that great little started kit of BMX cinema, "Rad".
